Podcasts. I’m sure you’ve heard of them. So did I. But I never really listened to them. I didn’t think they would be something I may be interested in. Until recently, my morning commute routine was to listen to some news and sing along to the music on my favourite radio station.
But then life changed, and the free time that I used to spend reading was significantly cut down. That’s when I started to listen to audiobooks. I still do that on occasion. But it’s hard to abandon a book in the middle of a chapter, when you arrive at your destination. So now I prefer to listen to audiobooks during my runs.
But I didn’t want to go back to listening to the radio either. I wanted to do something productive during my 20 minute commute to work. A friend of mine suggested listening to podcasts. I wasn’t really sold on that idea, but I decided to give it a try. And now I’m hooked.
After browsing and searching several categories, I realized that there is a lot out there that I would love to listen to. My 40 minute commute gives me an opportunity to open my mind, discover new things, and get inspired to be a better, more well rounded and much more productive person.
Now, I have a whole list of podcasts and not enough time to listen to them all during my time in the car.
My Top 5 Favourite Inspiration Podcasts
So here are my top five podcasts that come before any others during my daily commute.
Terri Savelle Foy
I love Terri’s weekly mini lessons. She comes from a Christian background. Her podcasts teach you how to live fuller, more inspired life. She provides examples for each lesson from the lives of those who have already taken that road and succeeded at doing so. Her teachings are always linked to the Word of God. She is very animated and inspirational. I find her Podcasts uplifting and motivational. They make me want to be a better person and to live my life with more grace, love and kindness.
OK, so I may be a bit of a geek. One of my biggest pet peeve‘s is when people make grammar mistakes when speaking or writing. I know that my writing is not as eloquent as I would like it to be, so I always look for ways to improve the way I communicate with people. Composing grammatically correct sentences is very important to me. This podcast, even though a bit geeky for some, gives me exactly what I am looking for.
The Life Coach School
I found Brooke Castillo while searching for some guidance to help me transition into my new job. After listening to one of her recent podcasts, I decided I needed to listen to them all. So, I started with the very first one! I am still a few years behind the most recent podcast, but the lessons I’ve learned from Brooke are simply invaluable. I learned more about my self. Her podcasts helped me examine my family life, my marriage, my parenting, my life goals, my career path and so much more. They helped me learn what makes me happy and how pursue that happiness.
The School of Greatness
Lewis Howes is an amazing motivational speaker. I love his positive messages and find his guest speakers very inspiring. I have learned many lessons from his podcasts, and applied many new skills that I have learned from his guest speakers in my life. But I have to admit, that my favourite podcasts of his are Friday minis. They are short, but very powerful. I often find myself listening to them more than once. So, if you’re looking for a 5 minute ‘pick me up’ podcast, Lewis Howes is one I would definitely recommend.

Ted Talks Daily
Now, this one is rather self-explanatory. Like many of you, I really enjoy Ted Talks in general. So listening to them in the car, allows for a relaxing yet educational drive. I learn a lot of new and interesting things from the speakers, and find out about things I would normally never think of reading about or researching. I like that the topics very significantly from day today, and you never know what you’re going to learn.
This is your bonus podcast. I don’t really listen to this one in the car, as I do not want to get into an accident. But rather often, when I have difficulty sleeping, or when I simply need a little bit of quiet time, I find the Meditation Minis to be the perfect way to relax. They are short and to the point. Chel Hamilton is fantastic. Her voice is soothing and the strategies she uses to help me calm my mind are very effective. So if you’re looking for a short podcast to help you relax, you’ve got to give her podcast a try.
Even though I have plenty of podcasts to listed to, I’m always on the lookout for something new and inspirational. So if there is a podcast that you listen to, that has changed your life for the better, I’d love to hear about it!

These all sounds amazing and very educational. I need to listen to the grammar girl. I love writing, but I would be honest I am not perfect at it. I would welcome anything that would help me improve!

I haven’t yet started listening to podcasts but I know I need to- so many things I’d love to know more about.

Ive never actually listened to a podcast, however I think this topic would be the best one to start on, so with your descriptions I might just have to listen to one of these people’s podcasts now 🙏🏼
